The house was first built to brick shell stage in 1993. It then
remained in this condition until we bought it in the summer of 2005.
When we bought it there was nothing but a pile of bricks and concrete,
but we had a vision of a wonderful home-from-home in a quiet rural
environment.
Having left Margaret at home I travelled to Sofia to look at houses
after Easter in 2005. We had a 6 houses to see on the first day.
This one was only the second one we looked at (I travelled with
a couple of friends), but it was almost an instant decision.
We went back to the house 2 days later with a builder before we
made a final decision. But having then made the decision I paid
the deposit - I just hoped Margaret would like it despite the condition
it was in!
The next day we returned again to the house with builder and his
wife (Rumen and Didi), and made lots of comments on what I would
like doing with the house. Lots of notes were taken, and photographs.
The house took a long time to actually purchase; much longer then
normal in Bulgaria, and was not finally purchased until 25th July.
Work eventually started on the house in August 2005.
